Lidové tradice jako součást kulturního dědictví

Title in English: Folk Traditions as a Part of Cultural Heritage

Traditional folk culture is an integral part of the cultural heritage of Central European nations. The Czechoslovak Ethnographic Exhibition of 1895 laid the foundations for folklorism - the adaptation of elements of traditional folk culture to contexts other than those in which they were originally found. This phenomenon gradually developed and was integrated into social and cultural life. In the 20th century, the approach to folk culture in Czechoslovakia varied in accordance with the political situation, and Czech society had an ambivalent attitude towards it.

From the late 19th century to the present day, this book explores the various uses (and abuses) of folk culture. It focuses on stage folklore, folk art production (e.g. savoir-faire or the activities of the Centre for Folk Art Production or ULUV) and folk architecture, its preservation and revival.
