Hledání harmonie
Title in English: In search of harmony. Studies of Chinese culture
The book focuses on two basic themes: the spiritual world of traditional China and its material culture. Individual studies deal with Chinese philosophy and religion, medicine, house arrangement, and the crafts that have made China famous, such as porcelain, silk and papyrus. Surprising at the first glance, this connection of themes shows from a new perspective what constituted the foundations of Chinese culture and how religion and philosophy reflected on everyday life. The authors of the studies are renowned sinologists. Most of the articles on crafts were written by Zlata Černá, a long-time curator of the Chinese and Vietnamese collections and the collection of lamaistic art at Náprstek Museum in Prague.
