The publication by ethnologist Anna the Great is devoted to the history of research on folk tales in Central Europe. Theoretically, the text is based on the issue of the genre of European folk tales, its definition and signs. It introduces the main personalities of fairy-tale research and their collecting and publishing activities, which is still an important source for knowledge of the genre. But it also points to the function of fairy tales in human life up to the present.
