Miloslav Buček
Title in English: Miloslav Buček. Organist – Choirmaster – Pedagogue
The present publication touches upon the personality of an artist and university teacher whose profile and legacy has not yet been elaborated. It was created with the aim of uncoveringunknown circumstances of Buček’s artistic legacy in particular. On the basis of the comparative method and critical study of a particularly unpublished legacy, new partial knowledge about Czech organ art of the second half of the twentieth century and the development of choral singing at Masaryk University could be gained. All parts of the file are based on the study of surviving sources of various kinds, especially concert programmes, press reviews and other reactions to organ and choral concerts. Archival research has been supplemented by interviews with witnesses. Music compendia and publications of a music-historical type were also a source of knowledge. The text is divided into three parts. The first chapter deals with his childhood and student years at the Brno Conservatory and the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts. The main part of the publication consists of a passage about M. Buček’s artistic and pedagogical activities. The artistic and cultural and educational work carried out after the end of his active work at Masaryk University is outlined in the third chapter.
