Title in English: The political cycle and fiscal policy: impact of their relation on economic policy
The main objective of the research presented in the book was to find out by means of an empirical analysis whether governments in the European Union member states were working in terms of political-budget cycles in the analysed period of 1995–2008. The authors also pay attention to institutional factors which can contribute to the creation of political-budget cycles: the type of parliamentary elections, date of elections, tradition of democratic political system, ideology, and openness of democracy. The results show that the government ideology constitutes the fundamental factor for the political-budget cycle.
