Politics and Culture in 19th Century Europe
Recent publication
The book is a journey into the Europe of the century before last, the time of the birth of European modernity. Through an analysis of the politics, culture, religion and other phenomena of the 19th century, the authors show how much of our thinking is shaped by an era in which Europe became the dominant continent influencing the lives of many non-European countries. The developments and ideas of that time became the blueprint for building the institutions and organisations that still influence how we live, think and behave. In a dialogue between history and the social sciences, the reader is offered not only a rich source of information but also a key to understanding the period and its continuing relevance.
