Regulace médií
Title in English: Media regulation.
This volume contains nine papers on media regulation in the Czech Republic. The individual authors, experts in constitutional law (academics, judges and barristers) as well as active journalists, address a broad spectrum of issues in their papers. Among the questions they ask are the following: How to secure true plurality of the media? Do we need public service broadcasters? How to regulate the media? They come to an unequivocal conclusion: besides state regulation, it is very important – and ultimately more effective – for audiences themselves to regulate the media; and that former state censorship should not be replaced with self-censorship. Though often very cruel, the market environment can also be just. If some news websites lose their readers, they also lose actual influence, and thus they cease to be interesting for their sponsors. Contrariwise, by supporting the quality media, we can help them to maintain their positions in the media market, and to gain greater importance.
