The book presents a metaphysical analysis of personal identity and deals with some practical consequences that the investigation has for the rationality of human action. The author criticizes the psychological theory of personal identity and defends the biological conception. He concludes that biological continuity is the correct analysis of personal identity in time, but much less relevant for the rationality of human action than mental continuity.
