Free E-bookThe publication is an auxiliary study material for the subject Témata z lingvistiky: syntax, where the students revise and improve their knowledge of the syntax of the English language and their skills in syntactic analysis. The major part of this textbook consists of a collection of texts that represent three elementary functional registers of written English: fictional, journalistic and academic. As a guide for syntactic analysis of these texts, the publication contains worksheets that thematically correspond to Section D of the Longman Grammar of Spoken and Written English (Biber et al. 1999). These worksheets also provide students with the possibility of practicing their knowledge of syntactic terms.
